Zoo - Don't Walk Away

Here's a great clip of Zoo, on TOTP, dancing to the Four Tops' Don't Walk Away.

Can anyone identify the slightly dazed bloke (and his three mates) talking to DLT at the start of this clip?

Pan's People - Tales of Television Centre

If you missed Tales of Television Centre last week, fear not: here are all the bits with Pan's People, along with Lucky Lucky Robert Powell telling us all about how he got so lucky. Lucky, yes. And a little bit of Brian Blessed.

(I'm a bit disorganised today, so I can't for the life of me work ou who sent me a slightly different edit of this material. Whoever you are, thank you, and please identify yourself, in a comment or an email.)

Legs & Co. - Happy Birthday

Here are Legs & Co., from their last week on Top of the Pops, dancing to Altered Images' Happy Birthday. Generous Flick, not wanting to show up Claire Grogan's frankly rubbish dancing, has thoughtfully made sure that L&C's routine isn't too showy.

Many thanks to Clayre for the clip.

Legs & Co. - Hotel California

This post marks an important point in the history of the One For The Dads blog: as forum stalwart Ryan has point out, this was the last existing Legs & Co. routine to be posted on the blog.

But to paraphrase old Mister Churchill, this is not even the beginning of the end: merely the end of the beginning. There are still a few rare Pan's people performances out there, that I haven't managed to track down. I have the ongoing task of replacing non-playing videobam clips on earlier posts. And, providing the BBC keep up their excellent run of Top of the Pops repeats, I'll be able to replace some of the lower-quality, fuzzy VHS clips with shiney new versions. Not to mention the other dance troupes and tangentially interesting clips I've posted and will continue with.

Thanks to all the people who continue to in clips, and all the supporters who are taken part in the conversations over on the discussion board.

I love these flamenco outfits: making the mustaches such obvious paper fakes adds just the right note of "we're not taking ourselves too seriously here". Thanks to Damien for sending a clip of this recent TOTP appearance.

Legs & Co. - (Just Like) Starting Over (again)

That generous PattiforPM has unearthed a clip of Legs & Co.'s transparent screen routine, to John Lennon's (Just Like) Starting Over: it's a big improvement on the version I previously posted, which the Holy Copyright Inquisition have had blocked anyway.

What's the point of those screens anyway? I don't see any figurative connection with the song at all. Unless they're there to mask the wires on the robes, I suppose. Hey, I've just spotted a classic bit of literal choreography ay 0:41. Fly away!

Many thanks to PattiforPM for the clip.

Legs & Co. - Car Wash (again)

I've posted Car Wash before, but it's one of the many clips hosted on Videobam that don't seem to be playing very well. I'd thought I'd post a new, higher quality version, from a recent BBC 4 TOTP repeat.

new clip, same old' seventies sexism from Diddy David, though.

Legs & Co. - Suicide is Painless 22 May 1980

Thanks to Suefan, who sent me this clip of Legs & Co. dancing to The Mash's Suicide is Painless (theme from M*A*S*H). From TOTP, 22 May 1980. I love the smell of dry ice in the evening.

Legs & Co. - Please Don't Go

The embedded video on my previous post of this routine seem to be broken: and since PattiforPM Suefan (thanks!) has sent me a better quality version of the same routine, I thought it deserved a new post. So here are Legs & Co. dancing to KC & the Sunshine Band's Please Don't Go.

Legs & Co. - Sir Duke 21 April 1977

This routine has already appeared on the blog a long time ago: but since that clip was pretty low quality, I though I'd take the opportunity of BBC 4's rebroadcast last night to post this much improved version. Before Ryan suggested it. Honest. So, dancing to Stevie Wonder's Sir Duke, here are Legs & Co. in glittery silver and pink.

A great routine, marred only by the absence of Patti, and the presence of Captain Inanity AKA Tony Blackburn. Ole Tone's not to popular on our discussion forum right now, over unkind remarks of his about Pan's People, quoted in the Radio Times. Personally. I'd take any insult from Tony as a compliment: he's such a mindless, inane, showbiz zombie, it's astonishing if he manages to articulate any opinions at all. Apart from "Great!" of course.

Legs & Co. - Spirit of Radio

We've already seen a low-quality version of this Legs & Co. routine, dancing to Rush's Spirit of Radio: but Suefan has sent me this much better version. It's much easier to see that the TOTP boffins were running wild with their super hi-tech video tools: freeze-frame effects, groovy psychedelic solarisation, chroma key and picture-in-picture.

Thanks to Suefan for this much-improved clip.
