Thanks again to Bucksby for sending me this clip: from TOTP 30th September 1982, featuring Zoo dancing to Roxy Music's Take a Chance With Me.
But why did old Kid Jensen make that "not the radio one deejays" remark at the start? As it turns out, this edition of Top of the Pops was celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of Radio One, and all the then-current deejays were appearing as guests: and earlier in the show, we had been "treated" to the sight of their attempts to dance with various Zoo members, to Adam & the Ants' Friend or Foe. If anyone ever aks you what "Dad Dancing" means, just show them this. Prepare yourselves...
I was concerned at first about the repeated picture-freezes on this clip: but that just shows how technology and atitudes change. I'm pretty sure these freezes are intentionally inserted by the video editors: back then in '82, being able to freeze the video image was the height of technological sophistication. Nowadays, a frozen video image make me think immediately "this streaming video is stuttering" or "some background process is hogging my computer processor".

Thanks for this Zoo number, YMG. Not one of my favourite Roxy Music tracks, but Flick's choreography may now change that.
Legs & Co were a hard act to follow and I never really warmed to Zoo when they were on TOTP. Seeing them next to dad-dancing Radio 1 DJs, though, I'm now starting to appreciate just what good dancers they actually were!....
Thanks guys for the clip of the DJs dancing which is good fun. Wouldn't it have been even better if Flick had joined in as well, perhaps with JS. Didn't any of the chaps have the nerve to ask her I wonder?
As for the other clip to Poxy (sorry Roxy) Music what can one say in polite company. I'm not blaming FC though. As clear a case of GI = GO as I've seen for some time.
